Not sure that 'Troubleshooting and Suggestions' was ever intended for this, but posting here so everyone (and not just Association Members) can see it...

Folks, I've been continuing to answer email queries etc. from Members and non-Members alike even since the recent void AGM at which I stood down, but can't be expected to go on doing so by default for ever. So I'm calling it a day now and will be holding any further correspondence for the new Secretary (assuming one is elected) to deal with.

Thanks for your understanding

Hi Paul

Hope the fit out is going well.  As you are a regular user of the forum, could I ask you to try and organise  a sort of RoI group that could elect someone to sit on the main committee so as all the voices are heard.  I don't think it will take much of their time as most of the communication is electronic.

J

PS I suppose I should have told you that the association role comes with the boat Grin

Jim,
I was afraid this would come at some stage! Fit out is progressing but cold weather is hampering progress a bit. Boat is stripped out now and first coat of a complete repainting internally is on. There were a few leaks coming in from the deck which were making the internals of the boat a bit messy and I wanted to try and isolate these and decided to go the whole way while I was at it. Anyway I reckon there are about 10 Impalas in the Cork Harbour area with a few of these pretty much abandoned on the hard. Can you get me details from the Impala Association of all the Irish Impalas you are aware of and I will see what I can do. I was speaking to a few owners in RCYC who sail regularly in Cork and was a bit dissapointed to discover that they may not even be members of the Impala Association! I think the proposal to spend some of the funds on getting the Website finished etc is a good one and I will do what I can to get the Irish owners onboard and involved.
ps Do I take it that your continued involvement means you might get back into an Impala again. Enjoyed the Winter League and cant believe a 30 year old boat could still be so much fun (and exciting when it blows over 40 knots!)

Hi Paul

Glad to hear that works progressing, I remember the cold wet days at Ballyholme doing the same things!!  I have great affection for the impala as a boat and wouldn't rule out another 'project', however my problem was getting crew with enough time and commitment.  It had become expensive for between 8 and 10 sails per boat.  Did some sailing with Andrew Kennedy in Rowena last autumn series up her and we managed to win a couple of races.  So happy to sail on any boat anywhere any time.  Good luck for the new season and welcome to the committee!!
